Draw Me a Star这本绘本绝对是亲子共读的一本好书 。也是一本能激发孩子创作欲望的书 。或者说，这就是卡尔爷爷这个世界绘本大师给孩子上了一堂最详细最珍贵的创作课 。
卡尔爷爷很多书中都给小朋友们带来着成长的喜悦，如the very hungry caterpillar最后蜕变成a beautiful butterfly一样 。Draw me a star这本书给我们带来的是一个作家的成长经历，从画五角星（Five-pointed star）开始到最后画出绚烂的八芒星(Eight-pointed star也称Octagram) 。从年轻画到年老，用笔创作出了一个世界 。
画中的形象，星，太阳，蝴蝶等等，都如有生命一般，“Draw me a ...”，以及最后They traveled across the night sky的场景 。就是一个创作者与他的作品的互动 。

Eric Carle prepares his own colored tissue papers. Different textures are achieved by various brushes to splash, spatter, and finger paint acrylic paints onto thin tissue papers. These colored tissue papers then become his palette.艾瑞克卡尔有他自己的彩色薄棉纸 。不同的场景都是用不同的刷子挥洒，用手指丙烯画颜料创作到那薄薄的纸张上 。这些彩色的薄纸变成了他的创作材料 。
They are cut or torn into shapes as needed and are glued onto white illustration board. Some areas of his designs, however, are painted directly on the board before the bits of tissue paper are applied to make the collage illustrations.这些彩纸或剪或撕成想要的形状并且贴在白色画板上 。有些设计则是把这些纸贴上去之前直接画在板上的 。
The art is then scanned by laser and separated into on sheetfed offset printing pour colors for reproduction presses. 成果则扫描并印刷出来，最终变成我们手中的这本书 。

Then last summer on my vacation, I dreamed about shooting star. The finest star fell into the valleys of the distant hills. More stars fell closer and closer. Finally, avery bright star fell directly on me, not hurting me at all; in fact, it felt pleasant, kind of tingly. After that the star and I rose up and travelled across the night sky. I had a beginning for a book, and an ending. The middlewas easy!

如何让孩子对这本有趣的书记忆更加深刻，而不是“挥一挥衣袖，不带走一片云彩 。” 绘本的拓展是必不可少的，这不是单单是学英语记单词句型的问题，而是孩子综合能力的培养，动手能力，动脑能力都可以由这一本薄薄的绘本触发 。
