China\'s trials of digital RMB expanded into six more areas by the end of 2020, and the final timetable to officially launch this digitalized legal tender has not yet been decided, said a senior central bank official on Monday. The trials now focus on small and retail payments for some selected groups of users. New pilot areas were expanded to Shanghai, Changsha in Central China\'s Hunan province, Xi\'an in Northwest China\'s Shaanxi province, Qingdao in East China\'s Shandong province, Dalian in Northeast China\'s Liaoning province and South China\'s Hainan province by October 2020, according to Li Bin, head of the Macroprudential Policy Bureau of the People\'s Bank of China, the central bank.

So far, the testing scenarios have included living payment, catering service, transportation, shopping and government services, and the central bank will step up testing to improve the security and stability of the digital RMB system, he added.

>Offshore duty-free sales to double
海南免税经济持续升温
Offshore duty-free sales in China\'s southern island province of Hainan are expected to double in 2021 for the second year in a row, as fine-tuned favorable policies continue to draw more consumers, an official said Monday. The island\'s offshore duty-free sales are likely to exceed 60 billion yuan in 2021, up from 30 billion yuan last year, which had doubled from 15 billion yuan in 2019, Shen Xiaoming, Party chief of Hainan, said at a press conference.
海南省委书记沈晓明在4月12日的国新办新闻发布会上表示 ， 海南离岛免税销售额今年有望突破600亿元 。他说：“我们适时调整了离岛免税政策 ， 吸引境外消费回流 。去年在前年150亿的基础上翻了一番 ， 做到300亿 ， 今年预计能够超过600亿 。”
