二、PS的灵魂是什么?
这个问题必须写在前面，因为只有弄清楚这个问题，你才能在准备所有申请文书的时候，站得比别人高，看得比别人远 。能打动人的PS都有一个共同点，就是有灵魂！这个灵魂不在于华丽的语言，不在于奇特的经历，也不在那些排名奖项的堆积，而是你对于申请领域的喜爱和了解！
举个例子，一篇应用数学的PS，写他参加的一个又一个数学建模竞赛的经历，语言非常朴实，也没有说什么我GPA多少啊，我排名第一啊，但是很打动人心，因为从里面真的可以看出他对数学建模的热爱 。我觉得他写得很好，其实所有别的申请材料，成绩单、简历都是理性的，有什么、多少分都是明明白白摆在那儿的，而PS是唯一一个可以抒发感情，可以打动人心的东西，我觉得这才是PS独特的意义 。
再举一个反例，有一篇生物的PS 。作者开篇写他为什么要读生物，说因为家乡美丽的小河沟被污染了，所以他从小就立志要研究生物，治理污染……我觉得这个桥段蛮俗的，生物环境的就是因为家乡污染，学医的就是因为家人得绝症，学工程的就是因为爸爸是工程师……其实后来我读完，发现他想申请的是食品制造方向，那一年正好是三氯氰胺牛奶事件刚爆发的时候，身边就有这么活生生的例子，怎么就不能用起来呢 。当然，牛奶事件可能也比较俗，我想说的是一个喜欢这个领域的人，怎么也能找到一些领域的热点话题，研究进展，不至于要把小时候一个不怎么生动的例子又搬出来 。当然作为一个本科申请生，不可能说对某个研究领域有多深的了解，但是一些基本的情况，还是应该在申请文书写作之前，多问多看多了解 。
三、标注自己的亮点
现在你知道了我们为什么要写PS，现在我们需要仔细思考我们要写点啥 。现在你还不需要开始思考文章框架和行文结构，你只需要思考一些关于你的成长经历并做一些记录 。但也不是泛泛地记录，最好的方式是使用一系列的标题并在该标题之下写一些与之相关的亮点，以下是可供你思考的主题：(以下关乎主体写作部分，就不做中文翻译，用英文思考有助于PS写作)
